Product concept
Portfolio reporting for clients who read the figures before the commentary.
Context
The concept assumes an independent wealth office serving a small number of families, where the relationship is the product and reporting is its most visible artifact. The portal is not a trading tool. It is the quiet, always-current version of the quarterly meeting.
Challenge
The audience is precise, privacy-minded, and allergic to decoration. Every number must reconcile with the custodian's records, every figure must be dated, and the design has to communicate discretion as clearly as the numbers communicate performance.
Approach
work.projects.northstar.solution
Research
We read real quarterly reports and noted what clients actually annotate: positions against cost, allocation drift, and the benchmark question. Everything else is commentary. The concept promotes those three answers to the surface and files the rest into the statement archive.
User flow
The essential path through the product, step by step.
Second-factor confirmation, then the portfolio value, dated to the minute.
Every holding with cost basis, market value, and unrealized result, reconciled to the custodian.
Asset classes and currencies as exact bars, with drift from targets visible.
The cyan line against the chosen benchmark, over any period that matters.
Quarterly statements generate from the same data and archive under the same login.
Design direction
Near-black navy, a serif reserved for the number that matters most, mono for every figure that must align. Cyan is the single data color; gold exists only in hairlines. The spacing is the luxury: the screen holds fewer elements than it could, on purpose.

Architecture
The layers that make it dependable, from client to data.
Server-rendered, session-hardened web client with second-factor sign-in.
Positions, valuations, and performance computed from custodian feeds.
Prices and benchmarks normalized daily into the portfolio model.
Generated statements stored encrypted alongside the portfolio they describe.
Responsive
On a phone the portal behaves like a well-set page: the headline value, the allocation, the performance line, in that order. Tables scroll within their own frame and figures never wrap. The desktop adds breadth, not noise.

Outcome
The concept demonstrates the reporting layer we believe wealth offices should own: current numbers with document-grade presentation. Its portfolio model and statement pipeline serve as our reference for engagements in private finance.
